I grew up playing soccer and dancing competitively. As an athlete, I found muscle soreness and tightness and inflexibility to be just part of the deal. Often, when I would complain about sore muscles, my mom would help me to stretch. I only realized later that she was teaching me the physical part of yoga. As a college student, I began taking yoga classes at a local gym with my mom, and I fell in love with the practice. I was lucky enough to have a teacher early on who also incorporated the mental, inner part of yoga in his classes, and from there I was hooked.
